The Honda Odyssey is a minivan produced by Honda and it is also called as Honda Shuttle in some countries. The first model hit the market in the model year 1994. The larger version of Odyssey is available in North American market, while the smaller one is available in Japan. The models released in first generation are compact size cars.

First Generation (1995-1998)

The first generation Honda Odyssey is designed based on the platform of Accord. The key features that mark the model are its steering handling, antilock brakes, entry/exit room and its superior ride quality. On the other hand, engine noise, road noise and low acceleration rates are considered as potential drawbacks.

The first generation Honda Odyssey is offered in single body style, sedan.

The only engine available to the model include 2.2 liter 4-cylinder version that can deliver power up to 140 hp and it comes mated to 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Sedan model is offered in two trim versions, the base model LX and up-level EX. It has the seating capacity to accommodate up to 7-passengers. Standard on all the models include antilock disc brakes and dual air bags.

Second Generation (1999-2004)

The Honda Odyssey introduced during this period is also called as Lagreat. It shares its basic design with Acura TL and Accord sedan models. The features that attract potential customers towards the model are its passenger and cargo room, entry/exit and acceleration. Despite its positive aspects, the navigation system controls and rear visibility are considered as main drawbacks.

As far as the exterior dimensions of the model are concerned, it has the wheel base of 118.1 inches, length of 201.2 inches, width of 76.3 inches and height of 66.1 inches. It has the curb weight of 4233 lbs. The minivan has the seating capacity to accommodate up to 7-passengers. Apart from wider exteriors, it also offers adequate interior region.

The sole engine available to the Honda Odyssey model include 3.5 liter OHC V6 that delivers 210 hp of power and torque of 229 lb ft. The available transmissions include 4-speed and 5-speed automatic. With the V6 engine, the minivan can achieve fuel economy of 18mpg in the city premises and 25 mpg on the highway roads.

Third Generation (2005-Present)

The Honda Odyssey released in this generation is totally redesigned. Though the overall length and the interior space remain same, weight and width of the model has been increased.

The minivan in this generation is built using ACE body technology, which is currently used in Honda Civic. The starting price of the model is around $33,727. The only difference between the previous version and 2009 model is that, the current model is offered in various colors. The V6 engine remains same and with the help of powerful engine equipped, the minivan can achieve fuel economy of 28 miles per gallon in the city premises and 35 miles per gallon on the highway roads.
